There are MANY Sprinter Campervans for sale EVERYWHERE as economic pressures force sales. I have been renting and selling Sprinter high-end SOLAR Campervans since 2014: hundreds of thousands of dollars spent maintaining, servicing and repairing our fleet models to maintain the highest rental standard possible. I spared NO expense if “highest-quality” was to be the rental standard.
So when we decide to sell a few coaches, it is never a different standard: we re-furbish, we service only at Mercedes certified dealerships: I have relationships with these dealerships that go back 18 years. And at the height of my rental business, I owned 29 SOLAR Sprinter Campervans: But at 71 years of age it “is time” for “other things” to explore. So here is what I learned from trained PROFESSIONAL MERCEDES and CAMPERVAN SERVICE EXPERTS- not from my beloved Grandfather or today’s fiction mill called “the internet”.
- Professional dealership service ONLY- no cost compromises. Get repairs and service done correctly throughout the life of a campervan.
- MILES- only tell you WHEN you need to schedule service, repairs, replacements etc. They DO NOT DETERMINE VALUE. I know numerous individuals who are over their heads, buying an expensive vehicle such as these, only to discover the word MAINTENANCE. MAINTENANCE always has dollar signs! SO WHAT MATTERS??? NOT MILES! SERVICE and maintenance. AND RECORDS
- SALES- a very scary and risky “opportunity” for buyers. With no warranty, you are best guessing on the condition of a coach. WE GIVE A 6 MONTH WARRANTY! Because WE KNOW how great the condition is of our Sprinters for sale. Nothing is ever revealed from a non-warrantied sale- and individual owners are NOT AT ALL STRICT in adhering to maintenance protocols. Maintenance=$$$$. So they avoid what they can. Sell as-is. Even with LOW MILES! Look-out! Buyer beware!
- The TRUTH REVEALED (MERCEDES) A Sprinter TURBO-diesel V6 engine does not “open up” until it has 50-60,000 miles. Miles do wear out tires, brakes at predictable intervals. As a fleet operator- we plan for this. We are constantly, strictly adhering to what is required. No matter the cost. Turbo issues were problematic in Sprinters up until two years ago: NOW THERE IS A LIFETIME WARRANTY(lawsuits)- so Mercedes will have your back. In a recent case, they had my back overnight, repair complete in TWO DAYS!. Drive lines- towing incorrectly can damage these- we check them, and the undercarriage all the time regardless-because Sprinters roll over branches-you’ll never feel it- but tree branches, and road debris brakes stuff. Struts, tie-rods and other suspension components wear out- no biggie- the ride will tell you- you must fix these. WE DO, all the time. Emission system components like the NOX sensors, the up-steam and downstream, the SCR Catalyst, the EGR valve- all can fail, or pretend to, so that is why regular service is critical. Things STILL happen. It is a machine after all. I asked a renter who works for NASA and had designed the dolly that moves the rocket into place: “Do things ever go wrong? That you could not foresee? His answer was “Ha! ALL THE TIME!” S__T happens. we all know, or should know that by now.
- Why BOTHER buying a Sprinter?? Simply heads and shoulders above the other options. I could write a book on this subject alone.
- The TRUTH REVEALED(CAMPERVAN MANUFACTURERS)- Ok Sales people know little. Sales advisors can dilute truth to make a sale. Systems can be half baked when a new coach emerges on the marketplace. A giant shiny sexy motorhome is coming for your WALLET!. OK, so you buy the best, you do your homework, and you really believe that protects you and your wallet??? HA! SAD, but TRUE- FIND THE GREAT TECHS- buy from that dealership, and ONLY SERVICE your campervan systems there. They are not ALL the same!!!
- LASTLY, Is A “WINNEBAGO ERA” or a “WINNEBAGO VIA”, on the level, (EVER) of a ROADTREK Sprinter of any model year between 2010-2019 ??? HA! Thats a question only the uninformed, un-experienced Sprinter owner or shopper would ask. These Winnebagos were never built ONE AT A TIME. Roadtreks were. The ERA, which is a Sprinter also, originally sold at $76,000. This Roadtrek SS AGILE originally sold at $129,000. Shoppers, there is a HUGE difference in technology, fit, and finish between a Winnebago Sprinter and a Roadtrek SOLAR Sprinter Camper. Do yourself a favor, and make an appointment to view these for SALE motorhomes before they are gone. Honestly they will serve you well.
Here is another of our models for sale. It is in NorCAL- It is the Roadtrek SS Agile. We continue to rent Roadtreks, despite the sale of their company (a couple times over) because they outperform in the Class. The RS Adventurous XL is still the best CLASS B to sleep 4, and tour 7. So just like every incredible “CLASSIC” car- we put our $$ into maintaining them at near new condition.
